Looking for Mini Goats?
Here at Rosewood Lodge Farm the happiness and wellbeing of our animals is paramount. Please carefully read the following section to ensure that you can provide a suitable home for miniature goats before filling out our enquiry form.
Housing
Goats hate the rain, so need a clean, secure shelter to keep them warm and dry. A 1.5 x 1.5m shelter is plenty of room for two goats. Babies need to be locked in their shelter at night until they are 6 months old to protect them from foxes, so shelters need a door and room for food and water.
Fencing
Miniature goats require a secure paddock which is free from rubbish and poisonous plants. We recommend chicken mesh, equimesh, dog mesh or similar for fencing as kids are able to slip through most livestock fencing. Fencing needs to be at least 110cm tall, with mesh up to 90cm.
Feed
We recommend feeding your goat kids oaten hay ad lib. up to one years of age as they grow rapidly during this time. After this, for two goats we recommend feeding about 1-1.5 biscuits of good quality oaten hay or pasture hay each day depending on your pasture availability
Legal Stuff
To own goats you need to have a PIC (property identification code). You can register for one for free on the Agriculture Victoria website.
Before purchasing goats please also check with your council that you are permitted to have goats on your property.
Companions
It is very important for goats to have goat friends! As such we only sell our goats in pairs or to homes who have goats of a similar age. We will not sell goats to homes where they will be kept with dogs or horses, as this often ends in injured goats.

Kids due July & Nov/Dec
Our waiting list is now open for our 2024 kidding season. We are taking inquiries for pet wethers and breeding-quality doe kids.
All of our kids are well-socialised, registered with the MGBA, fully vaccinated and come from a JD and CAE tested negative stud.
We provide all of our new owners with lifetime support and advice for their goats.
We strongly recommend contacting us early as we only breed small numbers of goats each year.
